engine pull

I bought a rust-bucket 69 2L from which I intend to pull the running
gear and then trash. Does the engine and trans come out in one peice or
do you have to pull then seperate? I'm not concerned about damageing
anything like the windshield or body. Any tips for getting the rear-end
off?
