bleeder valves for '69 2000

Hey folks, it's good to be back (been off the list for a while).

I was wondering if it's possible to replace the brake bleeder
valves for a '69 2000 with a readily available standard part.

I made an attempt at bleeding my brake system last night
only to find the valves are about as soft as plasticine.  I'm
hoping to get them off with vice grips and then replace
them.
