The Miata seats have front cone shaped positioning pins on the glide rails.
We used the existing front outboard hole from the old seat to position one
pin and then drilled 5 (per seat) new holes . We also used extra large flat
washer as backups. The seats are close to the outboard sides of the car
leaving a little more room for the console. My son is 6'1" and I am 5'7"
both of us are very comfortable in the new seats. There is even enough
room to recline and sleep (passenger of course) Very nice upgrade.
We also decide to install a smaller Grant steering wheel which to my
surprise went in with no problems and looks stunning with its matching
pistol grip shifter knob. :-) For the non purists that don't mind
customizing the Grant wheel adapter kit we used was #3592. The only
compromise is you lose your turn signal return tabs. This can be overcome
by modifying the Grant adapter but for now I am going to manually turn off
the signal after a turn.
Now that my son thinks the car is "Cool" or "Rad" we can turn our attention
to more important matters. Replacement of flexible brake lines, rear seals,
rear leaf springs, carb kits, fuel pump, door and window repairs and a new
top. I always thought a boat was defined as "A hole in the water into which
you poor money" Sports car fit that description also but personaly, I like
cars better. Which is interesting because I have spent 24 years in the
marine industry.
