Tigers started off with the 260 (as did Shelby Cobras), then went to the 289.
The 302 is the later model of the same block.
What killed off the production of the Tiger was that Chrysler bought the
company (Sunbeam) from Rootes Group and it was sort of embarassing to have a
Ford engine in it, but their V8's (318/383, etc) were too wide and heavy to
fit.
