I have seen attachments for engine pullers that allow you to tilt the
engine/trans by adjusting a bolt that replace the chain attached to the
engine. This would be very helpful if you are going to do this job by
yourself, but not necessary.
I just replaced my 2000 engine/trans this last weekend with the help of
my dad (He just turned 80 in November ). I used 3' of 3/8" chain
attached to the engine on the passenger's side to the (smog pump mount?)
rearward 10x1.5 mm threaded hole and to the driver's side top trany
mount bolt (also 10x1.5mm). I don't have the factory lift brackets on
my engine. The engine slipped right it, scratched the header a little.
The hardest part was removing the chain at the trany.
