I've put full Autometers in my 67.5 twin cam. There are a few problems
you will need to address due to the half year design. As you know, our cars
were the only flat dash cars to use the five gauge set up. These gauges were
also different sizes than the other cars. The largest Autometers are 2 5/8
inch, and the tach and speedo are 5 inch. You will need to grind open the
holes for the tach, speedo, and whatever gauge you put in the clock location.
The holes in the dash for the oil pres/water temp and the amp gauge are larger
than this though. So you will not be able to put the gauge in directly. What
I did was use a carbon fiber overlay from Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports.
This comes cut to the shape of the dash, but you will probably need to cut
your own holes for the gauges as I did. The overlays usually come cut for the
stock gauges which will only put you back in the same predicament. So I
ordered mine blank. This carbon fiber will allow you to cut the holes smaller
to support the gauges. It's a lot of work. And not really something for the
timid. The other option you have is to get a dash from an earlier car. Then
all you'll have to do is grind open the holes for the new gauges. But this
way you won't have the rare five gauge dash that makes our cars so
distinctive. As for the fuel gauge, just buy the one for Ford cars. These
have the same ohm setting as our stock ones. Let me know if I can help out in
