Hi Guys,
I've been off the list for some time now. It's good to be back. Last
weekend I tackled getting my engine and transmission ready to come out. I
began by pulling the carburetors and intake manifold. Now I'm pumped up
about restoring the mechanics to new condition. I'm thinking about a frame
off restoration but can't decide if I want to go that far.
Anyway, after pulling the carbs out, I found that the steel heater tube that
comes from the front drivers side of the block and runs between the
carburetors and manifold is shot (this tube has the heat shield attached to
it). I would like to replace it with something better, e.g. stainless
steel, etc. Has anyone ever reproduced this part or made it better?
I am currently thinking about replacing the stock exhaust manifold with a
header. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I would also like a better
ignition system but have concerns with the positive ground making this a
hassle. I used to be married to original equipment but am rethinking my
position in favor of enhanced performance and looks.
Also, powder coating has caught my attention. I've seen kits that you can
buy that say you can do it yourself with a compressor and a used oven.
Anyone ever tried to do their own?
Parts for this model are getting harder to find. If you have anything you
want to sell, let me know. what it is, condition & price. I will let you
know.
My past experience has shown that these questions have probably been asked
before (ad nauseam). Please accept my apology for yet another repeat. I
lost all my old e-mails from this site and have to get back into the loop.
Forwarding past responses is cool with me.
Let's Ride!!!!!
P.S., Can anyone tell me what happened to the FTP download and FAQ site? My
old links come up blank.
Thanks
Charlie Hubbard
