no, many, such as my own, were fitted with 1600 xflow (cortina)
engines in the factory. a few were fitted with the 1300 engine
though these required the removal of a chassis member to fit
the alternate sump (deep at the back) and didn't prove very
successful. in fact it would have been easier to fit a cortina sump
and pick up thus leaving the chassis intact but for whatever reason
lotus chose not to do this.
