reserve. Information can be found at
http://www.coys-of-kensington.co.uk/coys_auctions/9901/index.html. I ask
for additional detail and this is what I received.

Typically of Chapmanıs designs, the 7 was a no frills, pared to the minimum
sports car, offering staggering performance and handling, achieved through
minimal size and weight. With a lightweight tubular space frame, alloy
panels and alloy or fibreglass mudguards, so successful was the car on the
race tracks that it was banned from racing. The slogan ³Lotus 7 too fast
to race² was adopted by its enthusiastic followers.
When Lotus ceased production they allowed one of its dealers, Caterham Cars
to purchase the design rights and continue to build and sell the car as a
Caterham Seven. This was not one of Colin Chapmanıs better ideas, for today
demand for this, possibly the worldıs purest sports car available for sale
on the open market, is higher than ever.
Former Formula One Grand Prix star Jonathon Palmer helped Caterham develop
their ultimate version into a McLaren F1 beating super sports car, which
officially holds the world record for the fastest accelerating production
car and only recently a 7 Superlight gained the production car record for
lapping the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife.
These amazing feats stand as testimony to the brilliance of the original
Lotus 7 design and today there is a thriving racing series for all types of
7ıs and enthusiastic ownersı clubs around the world.
For the last thirteen years this example has resided in a private European
collection. Finished in racing yellow and equipped with twin aero screens
this early 7 is offered in good condition. With its Kent engine this rapid
Lotus should provide grin provoking performance for a new owner
