Elan Type 26 frame repairs?

While I had the engine out I elected to remove the frame from my S2 Elan.
The rear shock towers were buckling.  I've been able to 'massage' them back
into position but I'm sure they will collapse again.  I understand that the
later cars had reinforcement in this area.  Any ideas on the best way to
reinforce this?
