I've seen a few heads done by some of the leading Rover V8 tuners in the
UK. Some of them remove the deflector while others leave it alone. All
these heads seem to perform well so I doubt that it matters. On one set
of heads I saw, that were done by Discovery Engineering (was Rovercraft),
the brief had been to increase the CR so they had obviously removed the
deflector for performance reasons, not to lower the CR.
