I've got a t-50 on my 215/B. Although this is based on what I was told
when I bought it, I have the close ratio. The ratios are 3.1, 1.9,
1.25,1, and .8. I think the tranny number you stated is the same as
mine, but I'd want to check to be positive.
There is a spring loaded pawl on the top it where the shifter exists.
This keeps you from going into reverse when going out of 1st. It doesn't
take long at all and the pattern starts to feel comfortable. My rear end
is a Monza v8 3:08 posi. With this tranny the gearing worked out very
well. Though I wanted something to perform well off the line (it does),
I also do a good bit of longer distances. With my tires, and this
gearing at 2000rpm in 5th I'm running 72mph.
I was told the tranny came out of a 1976 Pontiac Sunbird v6 231ci. I
used the Buick bell housing, 10" chevy clutch and a Mcleod Hydraulic
throwout bearing.
When we first got it together to the point of being able to have it move
under it's own power, I had forgotten that the tranny had the 'hook'
first, it had been 7 years since I had purchased it. Got in and found
reverse in the upper left, but thought it odd that first was to the
right of reverse (really it was 2nd) but it took off with out any
problem. Finding the real first after a few minutes was like a bonus.
