Hello All,
Did an oil change on my 83 range rover yesterday, the first time I have
had a
chance to do it my self since buying it in January. The motor is a
standard 3.5l
v8.
After draining the oil out of the oil drain pan I used, I noticed some brass
looking metal
fragments and a "haze" of fine gold coloured metal dust in the oil.
The fragments were very small ie the largest was one mililmeter long and
about half that in width and very thin. There were several of these
fragments.
The oil had been in the engine about 5000k's. The motor has done at
most around 200,000 kilometers. But I suspect less than that.
So what potential disaster is happening in the engine or is this normal?
Any advice appreciated
Stuart Goggin
