Go to a small local airport that services light planes.  Buy a  plexi kit - 
a series of very fine abrasives - and work your way through from the  
coarse to the finest (which is very fine).  That's what they do on plane  
fairings.
 
Took me a long time on the rear window of the TVR but in the end there was  
a marked improvement.
