You've reminded me of when I got my TR-3. A friend was following me and
noticed bluish flame at the tailpipe. It was running rather rich 8-)

Oil smoke tends to be bluish-white. Black is generally too-rich fuel
mixture. Pure white is most likely coolant. They each have distinctive
smells.
