My good friend Ed created a wooden cradle with ears on it to help keep
the engine upright while transporting it on a trailer.  The cradle was
high enough for the oil pan to rest inside it without the weight of the
engine on it, and the end was properly notched to support the
transmission and overdrive.  Tied it down securely and made the trip
from Tallahassee to Orlando with no problems whatsoever. Thanks to
everyone for your suggestions.  
 
I really do believe that the British-Cars list is the most valuable tool
available to anyone who is in the process of restoring a British car.
