The right sized "grit" 3M Scotchbrite pad may work. You could try the
scratch pattern from it on a scrap piece of aluminum.

I have some trim pieces that are in good shape - other than deep
scratches and oxidation. Anyone have any suggestions on making these
pieces look like new. I would rather use the original pieces rather
than replace them with after market trim.
