I've used Krylon appliance enamel on Land-Rover steering wheels. 
They're of some sort plastic that starts to crack and shed the black 
onto the driver's hands when it's wet.  Filling the cracks with epoxy 
and spraying with stops that.  The paint has held up pretty well.
