About 10 years ago, I went to a local NAPA dealer (no I don't know why),
seeking a water pump for my '63 BJ7. The answer was "...we do not have a
source.... you might want to check with this guy ... used to do the
rebuilding for all of the locals parts houses, ETC. I called the shop, was
told yes, the pump could be rebuilt, bring it over. The shop (too long ago
to remember the name) was west of Cincinnati, Ohio.
I took the pump, it was an old shop but very neatly kept and the owner was
quite old but knew what he was doing. He looked at the pump, gave me
directions to the only restaurant in the area and told me to come back in an
hour. I arrived back as instructed and the pump was complete.
I had a bit of an inquiring conversation with the owner and he admitted that
all of the parts of the pump were a direct fit from a Massey Ferguson
tractor pump. He said anyone could do it.
The pump has been in my car for 10 years and performs flawlessly. Check out
your closest tractor dealer. He doesn't know about the parts fitting your
pump so you will have to do some explaining.
It is always good to know this stuff for when you break down "in the middle
of nowhere".
