Kevin,
I bought a Marcos windshield from Rory McMath at Marcos Heritage Spares in
the UK and they shipped it to me in California. The shipping, shipping box,
freight forwarder etc. cost more than the windshield however. The shipping
box was expensive but Rory said that the insurance company wouldn't insure
the windshield without the special box. (I also wouldn't be surprised if
people have been receiving their new windshields and then taking their old
windshield, hitting it with a hammer, and then sending a picture back saying
that the windshield was broken on arrival but that is just my cynical nature
speaking. In any event, Rory wouldn't ship the windshield with out the
special box. The box turns out to be triple walled and filled with expanding
foam around the windshield. It would be very unlikely that it could be
broken in transit without considerable damage to the box itself. I have also
had a rear window for the Marcos shipped from the UK by one of the Marcos
Owners Club members and it arrived safely without a lot of extra charges for
freight forwarding etc. I have also talked to two different people who flew
to the UK and bought windshields for obscure British cars and brought them
back as luggage (no extra charge). There has been a lot of discussion on the
Marcos Maniacs chat site about doing a "group buy" of windshields and rear
windows and sharing the shipping cost etc. If your friend wants to talk to
me I have included my phone #.
