Don, I've been running Valvoline 20W50 full synthetic in my 59 TR3A for
quite a few years now, I'm quite happy with it.  Yes, my engine leaks, but
no more than it did on "dino juice".  Lighter weights would probably be OK,
as long as your oil pressure stays up.  My engine is tired enough that I use
the 20W50 to keep the pressure up in desert heat.  Works good in dashpots
too <g>
