I just pulled the cylinder head off. Tiny little pieces missing from
the corner of #4 piston. Tiny little rectangular impressions in the
top of the cylinder. Also small bits missing from #2 piston as well.
The good news:
1) the cylinder walls are in great shape.
2) I caught this before anything expensive (assuming that replacing a
set of venolia pistons is not expensive) happened
3) I will have more time to spend on the projects that I really
*ought* to be working on right now.
So, after many years of having an ugly MG that ran quite well, I now
have a rather pretty MG that doesn't run.
I wish that I had the money for some 8:1 pistons and one of Hans'
Superchargers.
