Dear Mike and Listers:

There will still be the LA British Meet on Sunday, October 7th, 2001 at
Woodley Park as there has been for the last 20 years. This is a new event
that is being tried by the same people who put on the Palo Alto and LA Brit
Meets.

Since the majority of our contacts and lists are from the British meets, we
expect the mix to be at least half British, at least for the first one. We
are also expecting a good response from the small bore Italian and French
car clubs and The Unique and Arcane car guys (Issettas, Messerschmidts,
DKWs, Crosleys, Skodas, Tatras, Lloyds, etc>). The Porsche guys are all for
it as well and I just got an email from the Delage club so who knows???

We are trying to make this a low key British Car Meet style event for a
wider market without having to go too far upscale like Concorso Italiano in
Monterey or too downscale like a street rod run (as they used to say on
Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that!"). I have a handle on
the British end of things, and I have friends in the small bore
Italian/French loonies (being a former Citroen owner myself) but the others
are new and uncharted territory for us. We will see.

Don't sell the Concours Europa short - As the expense of putting these
things on goes up and the amount of participants diminishes we will have to
look at creative ways to keep them going - this might work out great. As
the organizer of one of the first All British Car Meets in North America,
Palo Alto in 1978, I remember people telling me I was nuts to expect the
Rolls/Bentley, Jag and pre-war classic (read as Pebble Beach!) collectors
to be comfortable with the Morris, MG and Land Rover folks. They were
wrong! Motorheads are motorheads no matter what motor they are working
with! I think that all of the Euro stuff will go just great with the Brit
Iron. Come on down and check it out. I think that it will be lotsa fun.
Also, being staffed and organized by British car folks will also keep
things in a proper perspective. See you there!

Cheers,
