While I agree 100% that the Miata looks more like an Elan than an Elite, I
did read more than once many moons ago when the Miata first came out that
there was an Elite involved.  Now the authors could have been laboring
under the same confusion, and you can't believe everything you read.  But,
read it nonetheless did I.
