Thomas, Rotor position makes no difference providing the proper firing order has been maintained. To check this, set up cylinder 1 at TDC on the compression stroke. Verify that the rotor is pointing at the spark plug wire which goes to cylinder 1. Verify the proper firing order (be sure to know which way the distributor rotates). It's as simple as that...
