Amongst Daimler nuts their is a strong feeling that they stopped with the
takeover by Jaguar. Some would argue that the last "real" Daimler was the
2.5 V8 based on the fact that Daimler was going to do something similar
themselves.
Although the V8 is great fun and better poised than the Jaguar I still
feel that some how a car cannot be a daimler if it doesn't have a fluid
flywheel, wilson gearbox and Lanchester worm drive differential.
The last of these were in the early 50's and included the DB18, Special
Sport and a few lumbering limo's. teh BD18 is a very underated car. The
bodies are a pain to work on.
