I have made my own micro hot tank that works extremely well for small parts.
Buy a ceramic crock pot. This is the type you normally use for slow cooking
a roast or stew. Dump in about a half can of lye - Red Devil is good and
inexpensive. Put a respirator on - the fumes can be very caustic! Fill it
with hot water. Set the heat setting so that the mixture is just below
boiling. Dump in your parts. After 1 to several hours depending on the
parts, the parts will be stripped of all oil, grease, and paint. The parts
should be rinsed and lightly brushed. This will not de-rust parts. In
addition, don't use this for anything but steel or cast iron parts.
