I'm 24 (almost 25, which will be a glorious day with all these cars to
insure!), my best bud is 24, and my best friend (read SO) is 22. We've
got all sorts of British junk, uh, cars, and we all really love them.
I think that most people of my age or younger like to work on/save/drive/
own British sports cars out of true love for the cars, not just 'I thought
they looked cool when I was in high school' We see solid evidence, even
though it may be rust covered, of a time when cars were more than just a
product to be marketed and moved as fast as possible. In an age of
throw-away living, and faced with the bleakness of a commercialised
existence, we grasp onto these old cars because we can feel the soul
within them. There may not be many my age and younger who would rather
own a 'clapped out old sports car' (thanks to Peter Egan!) than a low rider
thump-thump car with gold tinted fake three eared knock offs, but rest
assured that those of us who do own them don't have them for just coolness
or as a prize, we have them because we understand.
