Andrew Templer asks: "I wonder what the general experience of most
other netters is? A yea or nay vote for the term "Old Faithful"?"
Make that a Yea from me! Over 23,000 miles in the MGA and only two
incidents come to mind: cheap aftermarket front wheel cylinders rusting
solid in Potsdam, NY and a broken (roller) rocker arm in Canada on the way
to a Summer Party in Grand Rapids. The latter was clearly my fault, not the
car's. Neither breakdown left the MGA stranded - although I had to limp
into G.R. on 3 cylinders.
Never any fuel pump trouble - I use a Facet!
Similarly, the TR4A made the trip from California to Rochester, NY in
1985 without missing a beat. Even got a ticket for 85 mph in Utah.
