Red-faced test driver David Bettany crashed the worlds most
expensive road car en route to a London motor show.
The $1.02 million McLaren F1 hit a lamp post Tuesday after
skidding at a traffic circle.
"There may have been some diesel fuel spilled on the road,"
said a MacLaren spokesman. "The driver is a bit shocked and
embarrassed but has no injuries. He will be reprimanded but
not sacked."
The sleek black car that has clocked 231 mph on test runs
has a revolutionary design - the driver sits in the middle
of the cockpit with a passenger on either side.
"The car costs 634,000 pounds ($1.02 million) in Britain.
That makes it the most expensive production car in the world.
Only 300 will ever be produced as it is a limited run, " the
spokesman said.
Repairs to the damaged front and rear bumpers will cost $16,110!
