I have a dilemma. I replaced the rod bearings in my '72 XJ6 a couple of weeks
ago. I got the bearings from Welsh Jaguar that lists one set of bearings from
'64-'72 and another set from '72-'87. The Welsh people couldn't offer any
advice on what the differences are or which set I should get for a '72. Since
my car is a late '72, I got the '72-'87 bearings. The problem is that I
received an SICP catalog two days ago and they list bearings from '69-'79.5 and
'79.5 on. It specifically says that the '69-'79.5 set are for two oil hole
crankshafts and that the '79.5 on set are from one oil hole crankshafts. I
have a two oil hole crankshaft. Hence my problem. Should I get another set
of bearings and replace them again or should I just leave it alone? Does
it hurt to use a one oil hole bearing in a two oil hole crankshaft? Any advice
is appreciated.
thanks,
David
