Fellow fiends:
Well, Brian (the brains behind the operation) and I had a look at the
misfire in the '63 B last night. "Our" conclusion so far: yes, the timing
was a tick off but not drastic; yes, the carb settings were more than a tick
lean and are now a tick rich (more on that later); and no, the electrics are
fine. Things are noticably better after timing and mixture adjustments but
the car will still misfire after a few miles at highway speeds. After a few
min. at a stop light followed by easy going surface street driving it
appears better. Our working theory: inadequate fuel preassure and/or float
bowl settings off. I was told (in a friendly, male-bonding sort of way)
that I was an idiot to put back the original (+) earth fuel pump. Jeeez,
its only maybe 31 years old or so... So, off to the parts store for a new
solid state pump, new plugs and another highway road test. I'm in charge of
making sure the float valves are properly set too. I think I can, I think I
can...
Regarding the need for humble pie: You are absolutely right; I have learned
my lesson and will never again publically speak on the condition of my lbc,
unless that condition is miserable. Respectful silence is all the world
shall get from me in the presence of a well running lbc.
Regarding TerriAnn's summer: After all the talk about male/female
sterotypical sorts of things, is it too old fashioned to want to send you
some flowers and a "buck up, someone out there cares" card? Maybe me and my
buddy Brian can come over to your neighborhood and persuade the patoooties
out of the jerk(s) that put dirt in your new engine. OOOPs! Red line on the
feaux-macho gauge!
Actual question (=:o) : what is the Bosch equivalent to the Champion N9Y?
