Further on the chassis patch thread, someone (Texas Trans Inst.?)
suggested, with a question mark, that one might braze in a patch.
Things may have changed, and vary from State to Province, but...

a weld is a melting and blending of the two metal pieces into one

integrated joint. A braze is a surface joint of sorts and while it is a

very strong joint, and very useful in the correct applications it is
usually an IMMEDIATE FAIL POINT on any inspection and/or certification.
Even brazed sills on a convertable will fail your MOT.

In stressed members such as a chassis a multiple pass with a MIG or a
good old stinger rod are the way to go.

And, as someone else said, crank up the heat, it's not sheet metal. Stich
weld it first and then after cooling fill in the blanks.
