The ink about hesitation at speed sure sounds like the same problems I had with
the Sports 6 (aka Vitesse) on the streets of Boston (and sidewalks if given a
chance). If I would drive fairly moderately, the 6 would run fine. But,
thromp the pedal and slosh the the gas around, the six-pot would gradually go
belly up.
The culprit? Junk floating around in the gas tank would get sucked up into the
fuel pipes. The solution was very simple -- I just carried around a bicycle
pump with one of those inflating nipples. All I had to do was disconnect the
line, undo the fuel cap, and start pumping away. Got about as many strange
looks as one does when hand cranking a TR-3 (practice makes perfect).
