Certainly not.  The Facet fuel pump works very well in LBCs and with no
maintenance worries.  You should have a fuel filter between the tank and
the pump.  An MGB-driving mechanic whom I trust says the first thing you
do when you get a car with an SU pump is to remove the pump and see how
far you can throw it.  He has a Facet that is on its second MGB, for a
total of more than a dozen years.  You do have to get used to the fact
that, unlike an SU pump, they never stop ticking when the float valve
shuts the flow off.
