Try listening to the brake servo when the engine is running and the car is
stationery with your foot on the brake pedal. Does it hiss? You may be able
to hear it as you depress the brake pedal, even from inside the car with
the top up (nearly said hood up, but that means something different to you
guys!). Many a brake servo splits it's diaphram, allows air to leak into
the inlet manifold, weakens the mixture, stops the engine!

Take the inlet manifold off and check the gasket - it may be letting air
into the manifold. Same result as above!

Stromberg carbs? Check the piston diaphram, and the oil in the dashpot.

That's all I can think of just now...
