Congratulation. As a TR8 owner, I think you have made a wise decision. I've
had my car for 4 years, and have never regretted buying it.

I'leave this to more experienced members of this list.

2) Is there still a TR8 mailing list? How do I sign up? Is there an archive?

There is a TR8 mailing list. Email to tr8-request@mercury.lcs.mit.edu for
more info. There is also an active TR8 Car Club of America. David Huddleson
on the TR8 list can tell you more about it.

3) What should I do for alloy wheels?

One possibility is to get some slightly larger new wheels. The stock alloys
are both extremely expensive and pretty narrow. The stock tires are
185/70-14s, but I've seen TR8s with 15 inch wheels and correspondingly fatter
tires. Looks pretty nice actually.

>Distributor rotor and plug wires gone.
Shouldn't be too hard to find. Complete distributers, on the other hand,
are pretty rare. Didn't the Canadian cars in 1980 have the twin carbs?
If so, good. Parts are much easier to come by.

>Battery box (there was a box, wasn't there?) gone from the boot

Only the pre-production prototypes had a battery box. The production cars
just have a battery frame mount in the boot, and the boot padding jumps up
over the battery. The paddin is no longer available for the TR8, so if it
is missing you are out of luck on that. You can put in a TR7 padding, but
it is not long enough to go over the battery.
