I realized after posting the original message that the 8/41 were the
number of teeth in the pinion and ring gears respectively - just a little
slow on the uptake! I guess the real problem is to find the gears as I
understand Moss Motors cannot supply them any longer and the other problem is
to grind a spacer to obtain the proper preload for the pinion bearings.
We don't have very many early MG's in the area but the ones we have
are kind of special, 1939 TA Tickford (roll up windows), and a member
recently sold ;-( a 1932 J2 (partly restored) but there are a couple of TD's
but unfortunately, no TC's.
I'll pass your message on to Art Hartling in Windsor, N.S. who owns
the TD. Thanks for the detailed reply.
