My wife and I are looking for a car for her daily use, and for
occasional longer trips. She particularly likes the V****, which
seems to be a reliable if not real exciting auto. HOWEVER, I
saw an ad yesterday for a 1972 Jag sedan (XJ?). I know it probably
wont be as reliable as some of the alternatives, but I cant help
myself--I *must* go look at it. The ad says it has 70K original
miles, BRG, good condition and original with jack, tools, manual,
etc. The owner is asking $5500 or best offer. I am going to see
it after work, and would like any input from those "in the know".
Also, my Series I Alpine transmission may be on its last legs
(used a bungee cord to hold it gear ever since I have had it!)
and I need to know if anyone has experience (good or bad) with
transmission rebuilding shops, particularly in the Bay area if
possible.
