Dear Netters
The outer window seals on my 1970 MGB-GT are perished (as the Brits say
for rotted ) and I want to replace them on the car before I completely
rebuild it. I purchased seals from Northwest Imports for the right and
the left. I am confused, as when I compared them to the old ones, the
replacements were about 1.5 to 2 cms longer than the originals. Is this
extra bit to be cut off? Or are the GT seals different from the roadster
seals for this year of car. When I called NW imports about this he told
me that the seals for the GT and the roadster cross listed on his parts
list. He had no suggestion as to what I should do, but he did offer to
take them back and credit my account if I wanted.
Of course what I want is the right size seals. If I have to cut them, I
will.
Finally, I see no way to replace these outer seals on the door windows
without removing the windows completely. If anyone out there has done
this little job and can suggest the best way to do it, I'd be most thankful.
Sincerely,
John Peloquin
