Well, the Vitesse (currently known as The Amazing Thunderbucket,
hopefully it'll need a new name when it's on its new body mounts
and wearing its new interior and soundproofing) is in the shop
for paint.
After getting the run-down on the different paint types and their
wear-and-care characteristics, I opted for chroma-base (is that even
spelled right? Talk about an ignorant decision). It's hellaciously
expensive, about $400/gal, but it makes no difference in the labor
cost of any good base coat/clear coat job.
Anyone have any anecdotes/alarm bells/rave reviews about this
type of paint? Bear in mind, this is southern Arizona, where the
sun comes down so hard it makes your head bleed. And turns any
paint color into pure oxide white in precisely 8.3 seconds.
Replies appreciated.
