I had this same problem starting my '70 Spitfire after it had sat for months.
It turned out the points had corroded. Try cleaning them. You SHOULD see a
spark when you hold a plug wire near the block...

I think my '66 Spit is feeling negelected, having been left in the garage
since last summer, and has decided to cause me as much trouble as possible ;)
