IMHO, junk it and go back to the original points. Given basic maintenance
they are reliable and effective!
Whilst on the subject of points and pitting (did this subject come up here?)
I have owned Alfas where the points had an ingenious mechanism by which the
vacuum advance moved the 2 contacts laterally with respect to each other so
that pitting was dramatically slowed down!
