But it sure polished up well! It shines like redish cast gold. And the chrome
tube coming out has a lot more shine too. I just need to put the little green
handle on it & its ready to istall...Except it takes 6 weeks for the clear paint
to completely cure.
I recieved the new master brake & clutch cylinders, and slave clutch cylinder
last night. I took one out of the box.. looked at it and wondered how it would
look polished. Thankfully I managed to resist the urge... but it was close.
Now that I have the replacement cylinders, I supose Elvis will return my
original ones at any time.
I'm getting close to engine/transmission instillation time. In the engine
compartment I need to install the brake cylinders, resavour, and the brake lamp
sub harness. Thats the last work that can be done before the engine is
installed. The crank, rods & pistons are in the engine block. I returned the
cam for a newer one with tapered lobes (Helps the tappets rotate during use).
The replacement 280 deg cam came in last night from Ken Gilanders (A great
person to work with). With any sort of luck, the TR may have an engine and
transmission installed week end after next.
Scott, interesting that you should be fitting my old MG grill in your MG last
weekend. I finished the instilation of your old grill in my MG last weekend.
For those of you who do not know the madness I have been up too. Take a '71 MGB
grill, flat black veritcal bars, red MG logo in the middle, stainless steel trim
ring on the bars and another going around the rim of the grill opening on the
nose of the car. Remove both chrome rings, and the bottom flat part. recess
the grill as far as it will go up against the vertical support for the bonnet
opening mechignism. Remove the front bumper overriders and move the round fog
lamps from the front bumper onto the front apron under the bonnet nose in front
of the grill (recessed in the radiator mouth). It gives the MGBGT a new nastier
look.
My room mate is constantly amazed at how differently I treat the MGBGT and the
TR3A. When it comes to the TR she calls me an authentisity Nazi. Then she
wonders that I seem to change the look of the MG at a whim. I just tell her
that thats one of the reasons I have multiple cars
