I have just began restoring my tr6 rear end recently. I have
found three leaks. The first is in the front. The second is in
the filler plug and the third is on the right side. My question
is how do I fix the leak in the front? I replace the seal, but
the leaking worsened as I got a new seal. Its not pouring out
but there is always a little wet spot in the front. Do I have
to change the bearing? How do I do this? I have read the manual
countless times but it only talks about using expensive factory
tools.
I also have a leak on the side. Is this the same story?
Should I replace the seal and the bearing or just the seal?
My filler plug is also leaking. I tightened it pretty well and
it still decides to leak.
I was also recomended that while I have the rear end dropped
out in my garage that I should drill a hole in the bottom and
thread it for a drain. Is this worth the trouble? Could I hurt
anything in the process?
Since I work at a truck yard I pub ep80/90 weight gear oil
in the rear end. Should I possibly use 140 or is the 80/90
fine?
I am new to the net so I am not sure how much help I might
get, but any is appreciated.
