Here's another data point in the search for Significant Others who *want*
to be *involved* with engine work on an LBC.... Involved, not merely tolerant.
What is the general group experience (I am specifically asking of male
participants with significant others) with partner tolerance/approval
of britcar related activities?>
Owners of lbc should seek out the "right woman". There are a few out there.
I'm one of the lucky ones and am darned happy to tell about it! My fiancee
drove a Spitfire as a college senior and for a year afterward. She knew all
about the Prince of Darkness, opaque rear windows and "heaters" which
generate 3 BTU - long before meeting me! Eventually, a truck with bad
brakes rearranged "The Trumpet's" rear sheet metal, but Beverly still loves
motoring with the hood down, even when it's raining or cold out. Last year
we toured New England for 9 days in the MGA. (Small boot hint: bring
enough clothes for 5 days and launder on day 5).
Last fall we bought another Spitfire for her and *we're* currently tearing
down its engine for rebuilding. I'm certain to have her help when she's not
being mother, homemaker and working woman, and genuine interest and
encouragement when she doesn't have time to get *her* hands dirty, too.
