~ 1800 trivia, there were three models: 1800S, 1800E, & 1800ES.
>Four, actually: you're omitting the initial run designated as
>P1800, which were built by Jensen in England and are therefore
>the only ones we *ought* to be talking about on this list.:-)
>I believe that the Jensen-built cars ceased in 1967 and that
>the 1800S designation took over the following year.
The P1800 was built in England from 1961 to early 1964 Then they changed
the bumpers and interior around and built them in Sweden (with the body
supplied by Jensen) and called it the 1800S. The first 2000cc powered 1800
appeared in 1968. In '69, Volvo added electronic fuel injection (Bosche
D-type) and Volvo renamed it 1800E. Coupe production ended in 1972. The ES
'Sportwagon' was built from 1972-73.
This is really the wrong list to be talking about Volvo 1800's, but if
we're going to talk about them, its good to get the facts straight. I have
owned a 1961 P1800, a '64 1800s and a '72ES, and worked on many others. My
next sports car will be British. (that's why I'm here)
Now lets talk about British Cars.
