A fellow club member is nearly through with restoring his '67 Spitfire. The
rebuilt engine was installed last week and seems to run well. But - after
the shutting off engine, and it was noticed that the exhaust manifold was
cherry red. The valves and timing were subsequently checked, and right on the
spec. It must be hot igniting gas escaping past the exhaust valves upon
ignition - so perhaps his valves are not seating correctly - or he installed
the wrong valves? Any advice on what to do next, short of tearing down the
motor?
Also, does anyone know how to get in touch with AMCO, the convertible top
company? Do they still exist?
Thanks!
-Doug
