Keith Mott asked what one could do to paint or coat MIG welds...

3M makes a dandy product called "Weld-Thru Coating." It's a zinc-rich
aerosol coating, a lot like the stuff sold as "cold galvanizing compound."
The zinc coating is an effective rust preventative on areas like the
insides of sills (LBCs have these instead of rocker panels, of course)
and box section frames.

The neat thing about this coating is that it is conductive, because of
its high content of metal particles. This makes welding possible.
Burning of the coating seems minimal--it's not bad to work with.
The idea is that you coat right over and around the area to be welded
(MIG, spot welds...).

Most auto body suppliers carry the 3M stuff. Expensive--maybe $14/can.
Eastwood sells cold galvanizing compound for $6.50/can, and says it can
be welded. I've used the 3M, not whatever Eastwood carries.
