Showing 12volts on the minus side of the coil just means the coil isn't
grounded. Either the engine stopped with the points open (against natural
tendencies of a 4 cyl), or the points are bad. In either case, it is not the
fault of the coil. The coil is *trying* to pass the electricity through,
but can't find any place to dump it.
